What are 'Pocket Piano Pieces'?

Friday, 3 February 2017

‘Pocket Piano Pieces’ is a growing collection of short and simple piano compositions. These are new and original works, their uncomplicated nature making them quick and easy to learn but satisfying to play. The first two pieces in this collection are among the first few piano compositions of mine that have stayed in my memory. They are called pocket piano pieces because they seem small and simple enough to be pulled out of a pocket and played whenever and wherever.

These pocket pieces are improvisatory in manner and are not composed with any particular purpose in mind; there are times when I sit down to play and, instead of playing something old and familiar, I end up improvising something new. Of the times that I do this, on a few occasions I end up playing things that I think are worth remembering, and the resulting compositions are the ones that end up as part of this collection.

If you enjoy listening to the Pocket Piano Pieces on YouTube and are interested in learning to play them, you will soon be able to (I hope!) as I am planning to have scores for these available to purchase in the near future.
